About Botanihaus

Botanihaus is a home for botanical-inspired writing, images, and art. What began as a love of plants has grown into a collection of blog posts and products that bring the beauty of the natural world into everyday life. Each piece is created with care to celebrate plants, seasons, and the small details that make a space feel alive.

About the Artist

Botanihaus was founded by North Carolina artist and designer Liz Kohler Brown, whose work blends botanical illustration with a love of pattern, texture, and storytelling. Liz has been sharing her creative process and teaching art to students around the world for over a decade. Her work is rooted in curiosity and observation—drawing inspiration from the plants she tends in her North Carolina garden outside her tiny house studio.

“I grew up in the Alpenhaus, the name my grandfather quite literally nailed to the side of our house to remind us of our Swiss German heritage every day.  The older I get, the more I feel a connection to the Swiss farmers of my family history.”

About the Name

Our name draws from the German word haus, meaning “house”—a nod to Liz's German-Swiss heritage and to Bauhaus, the iconic design movement that brought art and craft together. Botanihaus is a creative home for botanical art, design, and discovery. Like a greenhouse or cabinet of curiosities, it’s a space where plants, art, and story intertwine.
